Hedging Bets with God?

It seems perversely inane to put gambling hotels on the water of the Gulf of Mexico, as if by not putting them on land you are hedging your bets should God not condone it. While humans have an infinite capacity to manipulate, rationalize, and even outright deny reality, do these folks really believe God is that thick?
